We are in the golden age of content marketing. We spend most of our time on the internet and are constantly flooded with a variety of ways to spread information. Any business not taking advantage of this moment is missing out on a huge opportunity.
If you want your content marketing to be successful you have to do it right. That’s why we decided to share 3 types of content you can use to spread the story of your business, and how to find out which is the best for you.
Blog
All forms of content start with good writing – it’s non-negotiable. The good news is that anyone can learn to become a good writer. There are thousands of resources online and at your local library to help you read and research best writing strategies.
And if I can tell you a secret, a lot of businesses get away with mediocre writing. You want to make sure that you spell your words correctly and that you have the basics of grammar down. But the majority of content on the internet doesn’t have perfect grammar. What’s more important is to be engaging and have a natural, conversational tone.
The best way to learn is by practicing. The best way to practice is to just start your blog, write once a week, and keep doing it.
Of course, you’re also welcome to hire us to do this work for you 😉.
Video
Video marketing is perhaps the most effective way to market a business, but it’s also one of the most resource-consuming. You need a decent camera, a good microphone, and a lot of comfort speaking naturally to a camera.
If you have the time and resources, then it’s well worth it. We recommend starting a YouTube channel and releasing videos once a month. With any content, you get better with practice, so don’t be discouraged by the quality or lack of activity in the first few months. It will grow.
Podcast
Perhaps you’re not ready for a video series, but you want something beyond a blog. Then a podcast might be right for you.
Podcasts are having a moment now. All sorts of businesses are hopping on the podcast bandwagon because it’s cheap, easy, and affordable. All you need is a good mic, some Audacity skills, and a way to publish online. It’s certainly more work than a blog, but it’s doable.
