Podcasts are a one of the best ways for entrepreneurs to multitask. You can listen to a great business podcast while driving, exercising, or cleaning, and you can pick up some helpful tips for making your business a success. But, there are hundreds of podcasts out there, which ones should you be plugging into? We’ve rounded up several that have received great reviews for being entertaining and informative.
How I Built This – This inside look at how successful business people started and grew their companies comes from NPR. Host Guy Raz has interviewed everyone from makeup maven Bobbie Brown to ice cream kings Ben and Jerry to billionaire BET founder Robert Johnson. Described by NPR as a “dive into the stories behind some of the world’s best known companies. How I Built This weaves a narrative journey about innovators, entrepreneurs and idealists—and the movements they built.” The podcast clocks in at 30 minutes, perfect for a commute or a session on the elliptical.
The BizChix – This podcast is aimed at CEO’s who are also women. Fans love the on-air coaching calls that are a feature of this show. As one reviewer on the podcast app Stitcher wrote: “This podcast is well worth your time if you own a business and want to take it to the next level. The host Natalie Eckdahl is a business consultant and mastermind facilitator to literally hundreds of women. She has the experience and knowledge to show you how to take the next best step to create real growth (and profit) in your business. I cannot recommend this podcast enough.”
The $100 MBA – Do you need practical tips more than the backstories of gazillionaires? The $100 MBA might be the podcast for you. Host Omar Zenhom walked away from the Wharton School of Business to launch the popular and successful $100 MBA community. As the business site “The Balance” describes Zenhom’s podcast, “He teaches everything you need to know about building a business. For example, how to invest in your business, how to set your rates, email list growth strategies and a seemingly endless list of other topics.”
Everyday Wellness – The title of this podcast may have you scratching your head…how is this a business podcast? But, as entrepreneur.com writes, “We business owners understand the tradeoff of taking some losses for our startup to gain, but health should not be one of them. How can you put in the grueling hours, with next to nothing in your bank account, and maintain a healthy lifestyle? As this podcast’s title suggests, it requires everyday wellness.” Hosts Cynthia Thurlow (you might know her from her TEDx talk on intermittent fasting) and Kelly Donahue Ph.D. have tips on staying healthy despite the pressures of running a business.
